#Nestle JLL Levi's Among 223 Companies Supporting the Clean Power Plan More than 200 companies, including Nestlé, JLL, Novelis and Levi strauss & Co, have announced their support for the EPA Clean Power Plan. The comment period on the proposed carbon standard for electric power plants closed Monday. In a letter coordinated by the nonprofit sustainability advocacy organization, Ceres, 223 companies including industry giants such as Ikea, Mars and VF Corporation said he new standards will reinforce what leading companies already know: climate change poses real financial risks and substantial economic opportunities and we must act now. The letter was sent to the EPA, the Obama Administration, and Senate and House majority and minority leaders. Many of the signatory companies have set their own renewable energy and energy efficiency goals. Ikea, for example, has set a goal to use 100 percent renewable energy for its global facilities by 2020 and recently announced the purchase of a 165-megawatt Texas wind farm that will boost the home furnishing company total wind production capacity to nearly 1, 000 gigawatts of electricity per year. JLL which manages more than 3 billion square feet of building space globally, has helped its commercial real estate clients reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 12 million metric tons while saving them $2. 5 billion in energy costs over the past seven years.
