or bloody that's a really strong cue that there's infection or cancer and that's the one

Bladder cancer infections and kidney stones can all cause bleeding that shows up in urine and all are worth a trip to the doctor.

Liver cancer can cause dark brown urine containing excess bilirubin a brownish pigment produced by the liver.

It's a painkiller given to people with urinary tract infections and converts pee into a Gatorade-like color.

The cloudy yellow urine in West's picture was caused by an infection. Related: How much Urine Can a Healthy Bladder Hold?

Occasionally a urinary tract infection may trigger green pee. Blue The rarest of all on the pee rainbow blue urine often comes from chemicals

Methylene blue was also a malaria treatment during WORLD WAR II. Other medications that make blue urine include Viagra indomethacin

Your kidneys should be filtering your blood and getting rid of your waste and when you damage the kidneys there's a lot more blood in the urine she said.

#People With Celiac disease Don't Have To Miss the Cookout (Op-Ed) Mary Kay Sharrett R. D. L. D. of the Celiac disease Clinic at Nationwide Children's Hospital helps patients with celiac disease.

and charcoal grills and while that usually means a good time at a potluck style cookout for people with health concerns like celiac disease that family gathering can be a challenge.

Families with children who are living with celiac disease are especially aware that this type of gathering can be problematic

if there are any food allergies you should know about and pay close attention to what those food allergies mean for your menu.

It is estimated out of every 133 Americans has celiac disease and while a gluten free diet is recommended only for people with celiac disease chances are you will come in contact with someone who needs to strictly avoid gluten.

People with celiac disease really need to read the labels on condiments especially. Marinades or sauces may contain wheat especially

if they contain soy sauce. Also watch out for marinades that are made with beer. Even crumbs from food containing gluten being left behind can be harmful for a child with celiac disease

if the crumbs mix with a gluten-free dish. In order to grill safely gluten-free make sure only plain meat

or vegetables cross-contamination with buns or marinades could be dangerous. I also suggest bringing a gluten-free bun with you to the cookout

And if squeeze bottles aren't being used try to be first in line to avoid contamination from knives that have touched bread containing gluten.

because the long-term effect of anyone with celiac disease being exposed to gluten is damage to the intestine.

First Case Detailed in New Report The case of a father and daughter in China who both became infected with H7n9 bird flu provides the strongest evidence yet that the virus can transmit from person to person experts say.

The father a 60-year-old living in the Jiangsu province of eastern China fell ill about five to six days after he visited a live poultry market in March according to a new report

Both patients became severely ill developing fevers and pneumonia and later died from the disease.

See 6 Things You Should Know About the New Bird flu Genetic testing revealed that the patients were infected with nearly identical strains of H7n9.

The most likely explanation for these cases is that the father became infected with H7n9 from a poultry market

The new report does not mean that H7n9 is getting closer to causing a pandemic in people James Rudge

Limited human transmission of bird flu viruses has been seen in the past and is not surprising Rudge and Coke said.

Urban gardeners can also take steps to separate their crops from lead contamination. Planting produce in raised beds with store-bought soil will keep plant roots from coming into contact with contaminated earth.

Before planting a food garden Langley-Turnbaugh recommends testing the soil for contamination. Most states offer low-cost soil testing through their agricultural cooperative extensions.

The findings were detailed online April 26 in the journal Clinical Infectious diseases. Raw milk is riskier than most foods said Douglas Powell a professor of food safety at Kansas State university.

Children along with pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems are at high risk of complications from campylobacter infections.

Typically campylobacter infections cause diarrhea abdominal pain and fever that last about a week and most people get better on their own.

The researchers recommended that state officials consider more regulation of unpasteurized milk such as monthly pathogen testing.

However consumers can never be unpasteurized certain that milk is free of pathogens even it is certified and from a dairy that seems to be functioning well the report said.

1 in 6 Who Drink It Gets Sick On average one in six people who drink raw milk becomes ill with bacterial or parasite infections according to researchers at the Minnesota Department of health.

The researchers found 530 laboratory-confirmed cases of infections including bacterial infections from Salmonella E coli

and Campylobacter as well as parasitic infections called cryptosporidiosis among Minnesota patients who reportedâ drinking raw milkâ between 2001 and 2010.

However many cases of such infections aren't reported or confirmed in a laboratory. Based on known rates of underdiagnosing these infections the researchers estimated that 20502 Minnesotans

or 17 percent of raw milk consumers actually became ill during the study period after consuming raw milk according to the study published today (Dec 11) in the journal Emerging Infectious diseases a public health journal of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The risk for illness associated with raw milk is far greater than what was determined based on recognized outbreaks said study researcher Trisha Robinson an epidemiologist at the Minnesota Department of health.

Infections with the pathogens that can contaminate raw milkâ often cause diarrhea stomach cramps and vomiting which last for about a week.

Fortunately most people recover but sometimes it can cause more severe symptoms or long-term diseases such as a nervous system disorder called Guillain-Barre syndrome or reactive arthritis which is inflammation in the joints that develops in response to an infection by bacteria Robinson told Livescience.

In the study about 20 percent of those who became sick developed a serious complication of bacterial infections called hemolytic uremic syndrome

which can cause kidney failure. Â The researchers also found that cases of sporadic infections meaning they occurred in relative isolation as opposed to being part of an outbreak of infections may greatly outnumber the cases linked with outbreaks.

In fact the number of documented sporadic infections was 25 times greater than the number of cases that were part of an outbreak during the study period Robinson said.

Top 7 Germs in Food that Make You Sick The researchers noted that their study is limited in several ways by the data available to them.

They said the sporadic cases of infection that occurred in people who had consumed recently raw milk could not be linked definitely with the milk.

For example some may have become sick through their contact with cattle. From 1998 through 2011 a total of 148 outbreaks associated with the consumption of raw milk products were documented in the United states resulting in 2384 illnesses 284 hospitalizations and two deaths according to the CDC.

Thirty states in the United states permit the limited sale of raw milk. Raw milk can cause many infectious diseases

and foodborne illnesses because it can contain harmful bacteria that are killed not during pasteurization. However raw milk advocates claim it is healthier

and tastes better. Raw milk's health benefits are not scientifically proven Robinson said. But what we can say is that people are getting sick after drinking raw milk.

and children who drink raw milk are at particularly high risk of developing serious life-threatening illnesses said a leading U s. group of pediatricians.

Pregnant women who drink raw milk may face a fivefold increase in risk of the parasite infection toxoplasmosis the doctors'group said;

and infection with bacteria called Listeria which are also found in raw milk has been linked with high rates of stillbirths preterm delivery as well as sepsis

and meningitis in the newborns said the AAP researchers who reviewed studies on the risks of raw milk consumption.

which means they can carry pathogens such as Listeria Campylobacter Salmonella Brucella and E coli. Top 7 Germs in Food that Make You Sick Over the past decade consumption of raw milk has resulted in 93 illness outbreaks 1837 illnesses 195 hospitalizations and two deaths according to the Centers for Disease

Control and Prevention. One study published last week by researchers at the Minnesota Department of public health found that as many as one person in six who drinks raw milk becomes ill.

The bacterial infections that come from raw milk often lead to diarrhea and stomach cramps. But for vulnerable people infections can have serious sometimes life-threatening consequences.

For example pregnant women unborn fetuses and newborns are 13 to 17 times more likely to develop severe illness because of listeria infection compared with other groups of people studies have shown.

And 20 percent of pregnant women who become infected with Listeria experience a miscarriage or stillbirth according to the AAP.

Two-thirds of infants whose mothers are infected with Listeria develop infections such as pneumonia sepsis or meningitis.

Substantial data suggest that pasteurized milk confers equivalent health benefits compared with raw milk without the additional risk of bacterial infections the researchers wrote in the statement.

The resistance in this case comes in the form of so-called resistant starches certain kinds of carbohydrates that resist digestion in the small intestine

Beware Kidney disease Are apples bad for the kidneys? The answer is yes if you're talking about an apple-shaped body in

and buttocks can significantly raise the risk of kidney disease even among people with a modest-size belly

While the connection between obesity and kidney disease has long been established this latest study is the first to show how just a small increase in abdominal fat begins to strain the kidneys reducing the blood flow to these organs

Nevertheless chronic kidney disease is on the rise. More than 10 percent of American adults now have some form of kidney disease according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.

Among diabetics 35 percent have kidney disease. Most forms of kidney disease have no cure except through a kidney transplant from a healthy donor.

Kidney disease is the eighth leading cause of death in the United states according to the CDC and approximately 90000 Americans are waiting for a transplant.
