#40%of Consumers Would Swap Their Laptops for an ipad 4 in 10 people would swap their computer for an ipad. Kelkoo, the shopping comparison website, asked 950 people whether they were considering buying an Apple ipad. Almost a third said they would be interested in buying one, while 40 per cent said they would be prepared to swap their traditional laptop for a touch-screen, tablet computer like the ipad. The ipad, is expected to be a huge hit with gadget fans. Shoppers in the United states snapped up a million ipads in the first 28 days alone and analysts Deloitte expect the tablet computer market to be worth $2bn per year by 2012. Kelkoo said that the Apple brand was respected well by those they had surveyed. When asked why they liked Apple, 34 per cent said it was because its products were innovative, 27 per cent said they believed Apple offered the best products on the market, a quarter said the ease of use of Apples gadgets was appealing, while 15 per cent just thought the Apple brand was cool. However, a fifth of those surveyed said they would wait for Apple to release its second-generation ipad before buying the device and 32 per cent of people said they didnt have need any for an ipad at the present time. oeapple undoubtedly has the Midas touch, said Bruce Fair, managing director at Kelkoo. oethe ipad could certainly turn around the fortunes of the struggling TABLET PC market by redefining the category as a premium, multitouch entertainment gadget, and in doing so, pave the way for other manufacturers to follow in its footsteps.
