Coal-fired power companies are pushing for as much protection as possible, but the nuclear industry, and to a lesser extent the natural-gas industry, see opportunities in the push toward low-carbon energy.
Power companies have begun already shutting down many smaller, inefficient facilities: 85 plants with a combined capacity of 10.2 Â gigawatts were retired in 2012.
Michaud is grateful for the Breakout Labs funding though he says that in comparison to what power companies could give this is pretty small potatoes.
